How does the program work ?

In 1974, an educational program sponsored by the Davenport Board of REALTORS® was born.  Difficult and challenging times forced the retirement of the valuable educational program in 1985.  In 1998,  the program was started back-up by popular demand and is currently going strong today.

At the end of each school year, the Building and Trades Projects, Inc., awards $ 500 and $ 1,000 scholarships to exemplary students participating in the program.  The scholarship money can be used for college tuition or for the purchase of tools for the students going directly into the trades.

The Student Built Home is quality built in every aspect.  Students are involved as much as possible in each step of the building process; working side-by-side with some of the finest trades people in the industry.  This project was developed because of a direct need for skilled trades people in the Quad City area, based on information provided by the Quad Cities Homebuilders Association.

High school students who are interested in the program should to talk their school's counselor for more details.
